When buying a phone, what frequency will work on the LTE network?
Our LTE network will work well with any LTE handset which supports 1800 MHz or LTE band 3. Devices that support only GSM and UMTS can connect to the network but will not be able to access LTE speeds.
How do I know if I have a compatible device?
Digicel LTE service operates on the 1800 MHz (also known as band 3). There are two ways to check if your device is compatible with the Digicel LTE network:
- Go to https://www.gsmarena.com/and search for you device type. At “Network” information click on “expand” to see the detailed information. Check in the Network information if you see LTE band 3 or 1800.
- Dial *#06# from your device to obtain your IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. Then go to http://www.imei.info/and enter the IMEI number from your device, and select "Check". If your device is recognized, you will receive a free report. Check in the Basic information if you see LTE and 1800.
Do I need to change the APN settings on my device to access LTE?
No. It is not necessary to change the APN settings.
Does Digicel have 100% LTE Coverage?
Digicel has island-wide LTE signal coverage, similar to the Digicel 4G signal coverage.
How do I know if I have LTE signal coverage?
Your device will indicate with a symbol the type of network it is connected to.
- LTE: LTE super high speed
- 4G: HSPA+ or LTE super high speed
- H+: HSPA+ high speed
- H: HSPA high speed
- 3G: UMTS moderate speed
- 2G: GPRS or EDGE slow speed
- E: EDGE slow speed
- G: GPRS slow speed
What happens to my device signal if I am in an area that is not covered by LTE?
When you move outside the LTE signal coverage, your LTE device will connect to the next highest technology it can find. The device may connect to an H+, H, 3G, 2G, E, or G network. You will still be able to use data and voice services.
I do not want to use LTE what should I do?
If you do not want to use Digicel LTE services, then you can change your device network settings to connect only to 2G (GSM) and/or 3G (WCDMA) networks.
What should I do if I am unable to access LTE Speeds?
- Confirm that the network settings on your handset are set to LTE
- Ensure that your handset is LTE capable with Band 3 (1800MHz)
- Please visit your nearest Digicel store for further assistance
How do I access and enable LTE on my device?
You can verify the settings on your handset to confirm whether or not it is LTE capable. Follow the below instructions for the type of device that applies to you:
Android: Settings > Network Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode >
- If it is LTE > LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
- If not LTE > WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Voice and Data > LTE – 3G – 2G.

If you have an older SIM, and you are not sure if it is LTE ready, you can come by the Digicel store and we can help you figure it out. If you need an LTE SIM, we will give you one free of charge.
I want to replace my SIM card with an LTE-capable SIM card. Do I have to change my phone number to be able to use LTE?
There is no need to change phone numbers. You can maintain your existing Digicel phone number. Just visit any Digicel store to have your SIM card replaced for free!
